Uganda generates about 600,000 tonnes of plastic waste every year. Only about 9% of this plastic waste is recycled, with most ending up in landfills or polluting the environment. Plastic pollution harms wildlife, contaminates water sources, and clogs drainage systems, increasing the risk of floods.
Our Zero Waste Initiative addresses the major problem of plastic pollution in Uganda by turning plastic waste into useful fuel. This project helps clean the environment and provides a new, eco-friendly energy source.
