Overview

BetterLife International, in partnership with FADECO (Family Alliance for Development and Cooperation), empowers youth and communities in Tanzania through climate education, sustainable livelihoods, and practical skills training. By combining school-based programs, community engagement, and innovative media outreach, the project equips young people and vulnerable groups with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to take action on climate change and community development.

Project

Climate Education and Youth Empowerment

What We Do

  • Climate Education & Eco Clubs: In schools, Eco Clubs engage students in environmental stewardship, tree planting, waste management, and renewable energy awareness. Over 30,000 community members benefit from activities that promote climate knowledge, leadership, and sustainability practices.
  • FADECO Radio Outreach: Using the local radio, we provide communities with information on climate-smart agriculture, health, youth entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods, reaching remote areas and amplifying impact.
  • Skills for Health & Hygiene (SRHR): We train youth to produce reusable sanitary pads, liquid soap, and other hygiene products, promoting menstrual health, safe hygiene practices, and income-generating opportunities.
  • Youth Entrepreneurship: Young people are equipped with green skills and practical knowledge to launch sustainable businesses, strengthen local economies, and adapt to climate challenges.
  • Renewable Energy Integration: The project embraces clean energy, including solar solutions, to power operations, demonstrate sustainable technology, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Our Impact

Impact Stories

“Through Eco Club activities and FADECO radio programs, I learned how to care for the environment and create small businesses from green skills. Making reusable pads and liquid soap not only helped my family but also taught me how to support others in my community.”

Our Impact

The project has reached over 30,000 community members, created youth-led Eco Clubs in schools, and trained young people in climate-smart skills and SRHR initiatives. By integrating education, entrepreneurship, and renewable energy, the initiative empowers youth to take climate action, improve community health, and build sustainable livelihoods, creating a generation ready to lead Tanzania toward a resilient and environmentally conscious future.
