Overview

BetterLife International empowers communities across Uganda and Tanzania through renewable energy solutions and innovative clean technologies that promote sustainability, economic growth, and climate resilience. The project focuses on harnessing local resources, reducing environmental impact, and creating income-generating opportunities for vulnerable populations, including refugees, IDPs, youth, and women.

Our Zero Waste Initiative addresses the major problem of plastic pollution in Uganda by turning plastic waste into useful fuel. This project helps clean the environment and provides a new, eco-friendly energy source.

BetterLife Renewable Pathways

Our Work

  • Biogas Plants: We install biogas systems that convert organic waste from households, schools, and farms into clean cooking fuel, reducing dependence on firewood and charcoal, lowering carbon emissions, and improving health.
  • Wind Energy: Through wind turbines, we provide renewable electricity to power community operations, schools, and demonstration projects, showcasing sustainable energy solutions in rural and peri-urban areas.
  • Plastic Upcycling: We transform waste fuel and plastics into reusable products, reducing pollution while creating local business and livelihood opportunities.
  • Skills & Training: Youth and community members are trained in installation, maintenance, and operation of renewable energy systems and waste-to-resource innovations, creating green jobs and sustainable skills.
  • Community Empowerment: The project integrates energy solutions with community initiatives, ensuring that households and local enterprises can access clean, affordable energy for daily use and production.

Our Impact

The project has installed 48 biogas plants and wind turbines powering schools and community facilities, trained hundreds of youth and women in green energy technologies, and converted waste fuel into usable plastic products, promoting environmental conservation. By combining renewable energy, waste management, and skills development, BetterLife International is building resilient, self-reliant communities while contributing to climate action and sustainable livelihoods.
